The Krakow Arcade Museum

While the name suggests this is a place where you might see exhibits of games you can’t play- that is far from the reality! This is an awesome arcade, where they’ve taken games from all over the world, and all over the decades, and set them to allow unlimited plays! So instead of having to pay for each play, like a normal arcade, you pay per hour to have unlimited access to all the games on the floor.
The games change from time to time- so there’s often something new to learn.  But classics like Super Mario, Pac-Man, a version of Dance Dance Revolution, and Guitar Hero are a few of our current favorites that are offered. This is a great activity for both kids and kids at heart- and can fill an entire afternoon or evening.
Located in Nowa Huta- you can get to the museum by tram- getting off at the stop “Centralna” and then walking about 3 more minutes. [If you don’t like to go that far out of the Old Town- they also own the Krakow Pinball Museum closer to the tourist area- but it obviously has less variety in games.]
But a trip out to Nowa Huta is becoming a regular activity for many tourists. Not only can you go out to visit this Arcade Museum- but you could stop by the most authentic milk bar in all of Krakow at Plac Centralny. Visit the Avenue of Roses. Check out the many neons that Nowa Huta has leftover from communist times. Or just simply, see the district that was once referred to as a communist-utopia.
At the museum you will be delighted with the options you have here. From classics like Pac-Man to Contra, to more modern games like Crazy Taxi and Luigi’s Mansion. The museum has tons of Mario games, and even the original Donkey Kong.
Of course there are two spots for practicing your dance moves on machines similar to Dance Dance Revolution, but called something else. And even games where you stand on a skateboard or straddle a motorbike to race through the streets. Many of the games are from foreign countries and it’s so cool to be able to see games we had never heard of before.
The best part of course is that you pay one entrance fee and have unlimited play for all the games!
You can pay for 1 hour, 2 hours, or even the whole day. Just check their website for current opening hours and ticket prices.
