Welcome to Krakow and About Us

Krakow is one of my favorite cities in the world for many reasons, and is an amazing place for travelers to visit and ex-pats to live. It is still slightly undiscovered if you compare it to other popular tourist destinations, such as Prague or Paris.  It’s very cheap for anyone traveling with a stong currency, like dollars, pounds, or euros. And the public transportation system here is awesome!  It is easy to understand, clean, safe; and can help you navigate the city and surrounding areas with ease.  However- the city is completely walkable! Meaning you may not have to even step on a bus or tram your whole visit!  All the major sights can be seen in a day by foot without feeling rushed.  But as you will see here, there is far more to Krakow then just Wawel Castle and the Main Market Square.

Emily’s Guide to Krakow is a blog run by me, Emily Meadows-Bulak. My goal is to give you an insider’s guide to navigating Krakow, the cultural heart of Poland. From cultural tips, to print-outs, and checklists, to food recommendations, we’ve got everything you need to enjoy Krakow to the fullest. If you are looking to build an itinerary, a top-10 list, or just have questions, send an email to emilysguidetokrakow@gmail.com and I will help you with anything you need! I have also just started giving Free Walking Tours- so please join me or my colleagues for one of these!

ME

I was born in Ocean City, MD and worked in the tourist-industry there for 15 years, starting when I was just 14 at a little beachside restaurant. With my seasonal schedule, I was able to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University in English Literature and then go on to pursue further certification in Graphic Design. An opportunity to WWOOF in Italy came up during this second degree program and I never looked back. For three months I soaked in the Tuscan sun while harvesting grapes and olives on organic farms and immersed myself in the culture of farm-life. I went back to the beach in Maryland to work for the summer and fell in love. My now-husband is Polish, I visited him in Poland for a month while we were dating and fell in love with the city of Krakow.  After one more trip back to the beach to work, I arrived back in Poland several years ago and have now once again decided to stay.

Awesome blog. My girlfriend and I are both living here in Krakow as expats, too. I’ve been here since December ’13 and her since this May. We both work here and love living in Poland 🙂

Hello Emily! My first time seeing your site and I like it a lot. I’m definitely hoping to get over to Poland at some time and will look up all your tips as you really give great insight to the local perspective.
