Cafes by Day, Bars by Night: Alchemia

Alchemia is a great example of the versatility of Krakow’s cafes.  Open practically 24 hours, you can stop by in the morning for breakfast, the afternoon for a quick pick-me-up, or hang out all night in the candle-lit dining room drinking beer.  The food here is really good.

The best places for food and/or drinks in Krakow can be found in the Jewish District of Kazimierz- and Alchemia is one of the best for food. Open from morning until past midnight, Alchemia was one of the original bars to open here, in what used to be a down trodden part of town. Now the neighborhood is more popular with locals than anywhere else- and is truly the place to be. While I love the sights of the Old Town in Krakow (Stare Miasto)- the vibes ✨ in Kazimierz are wayyyyy better. #Krakow #Kazimierz #poland #travel #tourguide

In the summer, sit outside along the Plac Nowy, and watch the people of Kazimierz come to life in the night!  One of the more popular bars in Kazimierz, Alchemia set the standard of turning an old run-down building into a cozy little pub, by filling it with mis-matched antique furniture, and tall candles.  Did we mention they are pet-friendly?

In the winter, enjoy wood-burning fire places, and in summer the outside sidewalk tables.  Alchemia is a great place to go for beer, coffee, tea, or food.  On weekends, expect a crowd, but luckily the self-service order at the counter makes everything move quickly and puts you in control (no waiting for a server to bring you the check).

Attached to the bar, through a separate entrance is a brand-new Alchemia kitchen, where you can sit and dine in a more well-lit atmosphere, where there is a little more organization to the tables.
